How the National Lottery is Supported by the Kenyan Government
The national lottery would be created by a 27-person task
committee under the direction of steel tycoon Narendra Raval.
Even though this will be Kenya's first national lottery, the
idea is common in many other nations throughout the world.
The United States of America (US), the United Kingdom (UK),
India, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, and Spain are notable nations with
national lotteries.
A nationwide lottery was instituted to enable the government
to generate billions of shillings without raising taxes.
The proceeds from the lottery, according to the Gazette
Notice, would support charitable endeavors and help those in need.
Certain Kenyans will also receive millions of dollars from
the government's effort while the government will raise billions through the
program.
The minimal sum that Kenyans must use to enter the lottery
will first be determined by the task committee headed by Raval.
The general public will subsequently be able to buy tickets
with the numbers of their choice.
Kenyans will subsequently be able to take part in small and
mega draws as part of the national lottery's division into two.
The task force's recommendations will determine whether the
small draw is set daily with a weekly mega draw. Alternatively, the mini draw can be on a weekly basis and the
mega draw monthly.
The government will select a specific number of participants
in the mini-draw who will get shared revenue. For instance, Ksh20 million will
be distributed to 100 benevolent winners.
Kenyans might make a fortune at the mega draw, where one
lucky winner will take home the whole prize pool.
If you have the lucky number, you will take all the money
that is up for grabs that week or month home with you.
If there isn't a lucky winner during the mega draw, the
prize money will be added to the following mega draw.
If the mega draw was for Ksh80 million and the weekly draw
was for Ksh10 million, the following mega draw would be for Ksh90 million if no
one won.
An American citizen won Ksh194 billion in the national
lottery in October 2018, making him an instant billionaire.
